A few months ago, I sent my copy of Guitar Hero III in for a replacement, since the Wii version was mixed in mono instead of stereo. Whoops! Well, it sucked being without the game for a while, but today Activision made things (a little) better: I got a free faceplate in the mail! You can see a picture of it at this blog post. Sweet!

As much as I love Guitar Hero, I have to say Rock Band is pretty awesome as well. My brother brought his PS3 over today with Rock Band and we had a good time, with myself, my brother, two of my sisters, and my mom joining in on the fun. I don’t like the interface as much — I prefer the circles to bars — but playing drums is really fun and singing is amusing when someone else is doing it. I’m not much of a singer. I found some guitar/bass parts to be easier than their counterparts, and I nailed several songs on Expert that in Guitar Hero I would’ve had trouble with on hard. In Guitar Hero, I finally got through “Knights of Cydonia” on hard, and I’m currently practicing “One” on hard. I can get through it until the solo, which absolutely kills me. This is going to take a while.

I was playing Guitar Hero III on my Wii with my mom today and realized that it was the first video game we’d ever played together. Some things are just universally fun.
